In parts of the South Dakota badlands there are active cattle ranches that still use horses extensively. In the southern part of the badlands I came across a small bunkhouse and a set of corrals which is used to work horses and cattle. In the distance is the Black Hills shrouded in a hazy blue violet. It made for a perfect setting for an oil painting.
