The landscape in the South Dakota Black Hills is varied from rocky crags to steep grassy slops. Rolling prairie hills with trees are also part of the environment for the bison and other wildlife that live there. In the summer the population of bison is around 1500 and they are constantly on the move. It is a spectacular scene and this painting reflects the fall colors with bison on the move.
