Late fall and early winter bring a refreshing quality to the landscape in the Black Hills of South Dakota. The air has a crisp feel and the land is quietly changing its colors. It's a pleasant time of the year to be out painting landscapes and gathering information for larger studio landscape art paintings. This precious place was found just west of the South Dakota State Game Lodge, Custer State Park.
